Aquatic Habitat and Species

Through the development of Fisheries Management Plans (FMPs), the TRCA in partnership with other agencies, non-government organizations and the public, helps to protect and enhance aquatic habitat within the nine watersheds in the TRCA's jurisdiction.

The streams and rivers within the TRCA's jurisdiction are home to a variety of species including fish, stream insects and smaller microsopic organisms. From brook trout to white sucker, and dragonfly larve to crayfish, each species play an important role in the food web.
