Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA) Education is pleased to offer the following, in-residence high school credit courses as sponsored by Boards of Education.
Program Title: Boyd Archaeological Field School
Grade: Grade 12 University Prep Credit in Interdisciplinary Studies
Location: Claremont Field Centre
Program Length: three weeks
Season / Month Offered: July-August
Program Description:
Over a three week period, students develop and master interdisciplinary knowledge and skills through the exploration of Aboriginal and EuroCanadian histories. The course includes lectures and hands-on work at an archaeological site under the instruction of certified teachers and archaeologists. The Boyd Archaeological Field School, recipient of the 2005 Peggy Armstrong Public Archaeology award, is entering its 33rd year of operation under the sponsorship of the Continuing Education Department of the York Region Board of Education with assistance from a number of partners, such as Peel Region, the Rouge Park, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Hudson’s Bay Company and Canada’s National History Society.
