Community Program for Stormwater Management (CPSWM)
Uncontrolled flows of stormwater and combined sewer overflows are significant water pollution issues for the Toronto and Region Remedial Action Plan (RAP). The implementation of the City of Toronto's Wet Weather Flow Management Master Plan (WWFMP), is one of the essential steps needed for the Toronto and Region RAP to move towards its vision of drinkable, fishable, swimmable and aesthetically pleasing water and aquatic habitats.
Call for proposals for the Community Program for Stormwater Management (CPSWM)
The City of Toronto and Toronto and Region Conservation are pleased to announce the next call for proposals for the Community Program for Stormwater Management (CPSWM), made possible by the funding and support of the City of Toronto.
Not-for-profit groups and organizations are invited to apply to the Community Program for Stormwater Management for funding to implement projects that support the Wet Weather Flow Master Plan (WWFMP). Examples of acceptable projects eligible for funding under this program include naturalization, stewardship activities, and public outreach. Project proposals will be evaluated by a multi-agency committee and prioritized on the basis of their consistency with the WWFMP.
The goal of the City of Toronto's WWFMP is to reduce and ultimately eliminate the adverse effects of wet weather flow (runoff that is generated when it rains or snows). When implemented, the Master Plan will make our streams, rivers and waterfront cleaner and healthier.
Public involvement is a key part of the Master Plan process. The City of Toronto aims to implement the WWFMP in a cooperative manner, involving Toronto and Region Conservation, government agencies and community groups, with an emphasis on private stewardship and community involvement.
$250,000 will be available for approved project under the CPSWM (dependant on interest and response). Projects which fall within the range of $1,000 to $25,000 will be considered for funding.
The next deadline for applications is Friday September 11, 2009.
