Volunteering at TRCA
Volunteers have been, and will continue to be, an integral component of Toronto and Region Conservation (TRCA). Volunteers complement and support the work of full-time and seasonal staff, accomplish important tasks that would not otherwise be done and support programs that fit with the vision for The Living City.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone can volunteer (groups, individuals, students, working professionals, retirees, etc.) as a regular volunteer on an on-going basis or a special occasion volunteer at an event, provided you meet the following requirements:
- Individual volunteers must be 16 years or older, unless accompanied by an adult (14 or older for Kortright volunteers and 15 or older for Black Creek Pioneer Village).
- Volunteers aged 16 or older who will be working with youth (aged 0-17 years) or the public must clear a police record check.
How much experience do I need to have?
There are a wide variety of opportunities available through the EVN. Each position posted will give you a description of the type and level of experience required. Some positions require a great deal of experience and education, some require little or none at all!
What Kind of Opportunities are available?
Volunteer opportunities are available at a variety of Greater Toronto Area (GTA) locations throughout the year. For a list of volunteer opportunities, please see our Volunteer Job Board.
How long do I have to commit for?
Time commitments are as varied as the opportunities themselves, and are listed on each posting. Requirements for a volunteer opportunity can range anywhere from a minimum of three hours to three years.
Can my volunteer hours count toward my high school graduation requirements?
The EVN is qualified to provide you with the volunteer hours you require for graduation, and there are a variety of options for you to choose from. Have a look at the Volunteer Job Board or contact Dash Paja at firstname.lastname@example.org or 416-661-6600 ext. 5593.
